This semester, my hardest class is my capstone. It's not that it is really hard work, it is just time consuming and tedious. We have to build a campaign all in 16 weeks. Luckily, my professor staggers due dates and that makes it much easier to handle. Despite this, my biggest challenge this semester is focusing on time management.
I am trying really hard to not fall really behind in classes. This semester is so busy that I do not think that I have time to procrastinate, which is good, but I need to learn to do assignments as much in advance as possible. I am trying really hard to not focus on the grade either. Learning new information is my focus this semester. I want to maintain my GPA, but I know that it is silly to get an A without actually knowing the information.
I am using my capstone schedule to build my homework schedule for all of my classes. I am trying to take it day by day and not freak out about assignments due months ahead. So, here is to maintaining a good work ethic for my classes and learning along the way!

As you can guess, I think that is GREAT about being able to use your Capstone to anchor your whole schedule, Christina — how cool! I try to make this class really steady from week to week, but for a Capstone-type class, obviously there are going to be some really intense weeks in there. Since you know that, you can plan this class accordingly so that if you need to just take off for a week or two in this class, that is no problem, especially if you can predict when that is coming and do some extra credit stuff to get ready. And that is so cool that you are doing a real PR campaign: wow! That is a kind of writing that requires you to really get into the mind of your audience... and that can be a plus for the kind of writing you do in this class too. If you find some good writing tips and strategies that you learn about in that class, let me know so that I can share them around with this class! :-)
Hi Christina,
I think the meme you posted holds a special place in my heart. I always tend to overdo things and try to get everything done in as little time as possible. I don’t even know why I do that because I know I will get burnt out and scatter brained. Pacing yourself and working ahead is very important. I hope that for it is now week 7 that you were able to work on your time management. This week has definitely kicked my butt! Good luck on your capstone!
Hi Christina! It's been almost a month since you've posted this growth mindset blog. And after reading your famous last words for week 7, I was wondering how you were feeling about your classes? Are you actually learning more by focusing on content versus what your grade comes out to be? Also, out of curiosity, I bet your GPA is better since you genuinely want to learn the material. But good for you for wanting to obtain knowledge in your higher education!
Hello Christina,
I hope you are doing fantastic in your capstone course! I definitely feel you with having a busy semester this year. It can definitely be trying to know that you do not have that much room for procrastination or else everything piles up into a bad situation. However, it seems that you are staying organized and making sure everything is completed on time. After all this is what the growth mindset is right? We have to challenge ourselves and sometimes time management is the biggest challenge of all!
